Buckingham’s iQTS Course Receives Top Inspection Grade

In a report published this week, the Faculty of Education’s International Qualified Teacher Status course has been awarded the top grade of ‘1’ in their November inspection. This four-day-long inspection, which included visits to our schools abroad and feedback from trainees, mentors and school leaders, has confirmed that The University of Buckingham is amongst the best providers of the iQTS in England.

Particular areas of strength identified in the report include: strong and mutually supportive partnerships with schools and mentors; in-person tutor visits for all trainees early in the course; the 100-hour Intensive Training and Practice model; layers of quality assurance; feedback from trainees stating they felt a sense of belonging to the university; a clear sense of professionalism and pride demonstrated by the faculty.

In addition, the inspection team highlighted that workload, wellbeing and professional support are handled with insight and empathy, that there was a ‘forward-thinking use of technology’, and finally that programme design and delivery are of an exemplary standard.

Director of International Programmes Stephen Cook said: “We are thrilled that the course design, hard work and dedication of the whole team has been recognised. We were proud when we were granted permission from the Department for Education to deliver this course, and now we are doubly proud that our delivery is considered so highly as a Grade ‘1’.”
